What's Included in an Exterior Detail?
Every exterior detail starts with a thorough hand wash — no automatic car wash brushes that scratch paint. From there, the package you choose determines the depth of the clean. Basic is your maintenance wash for regular upkeep. Standard is the most popular — adding a deep wheel clean, spray-on wax, and tire shine. Full goes furthest, using a chemical decontamination spray and full clay bar to physically remove bonded surface contamination that washing alone can't touch.
Why Mobile Exterior Detailing?
Automatic car washes spin brushes across your paint thousands of times a day, dragging grit and debris with them — the leading cause of swirl marks. A proper hand wash with clean microfibre mitts and dedicated wheel brushes protects your paint every time. With A1 Auto Spa, we bring all equipment to your driveway or parking spot across Brampton, Mississauga, Vaughan, Oakville, and the GTA.
What Is a Clay Bar Treatment?
A clay bar is a specially formulated putty that physically pulls bonded contaminants off the paint surface — things like industrial fallout, rail dust, iron deposits, tree sap residue, and road tar that washing alone can't remove. After a clay bar treatment, your paint feels smooth as glass. It's a critical step before applying wax, a paint sealant, or ceramic coating, and it's included in every Full exterior detail.
Exterior Detailing FAQ
What's included in an exterior detail?
Basic includes a hand wash, basic wheel wash, door jambs wiped, and windows cleaned. Standard adds deep wheel wells, spray-on wax, and tire shine. Full is the most thorough — chemical paint decontamination, a full clay bar, and exterior plastic protectant.
How long does an exterior detail take?
Basic takes about 45–60 minutes. Standard takes 1.5–2 hours. Full takes 2.5–3.5 hours depending on vehicle size and paint condition.
What is a clay bar treatment?
A clay bar treatment physically removes bonded surface contaminants — like rail dust, iron fallout, and overspray — that regular washing can't remove. It leaves the paint smooth as glass and is a key step before wax or ceramic coating.
How often should I get an exterior detail?
For most GTA drivers, a Basic or Standard exterior every 4–6 weeks keeps the paint protected. A Full detail with clay bar is recommended twice a year — once before winter and once in spring after salt season.
